We are a small guiding company, and plan to keep it that way, so we can pay attention to detail, know the secrets of the National Parks and maintain high quality tours.
Guides for Nomadic By Nature love people, love the outdoors and want to share that with their guests. Our goal is to keep you safe, slow it down, get you out of the car, and to show you why we need these wide-open spaces in our ever-changing world.
We’re also here to keep you well-fed, make you laugh and have a good time! Whether this is your first backpacking trip, or your 100th, we’re happy to be out there with you. So, let’s get on the trail, slow things down and get back to nature — join us for a world class tour!
Matt Hergert has lived all over the United States, and is well on his way to visiting all National Parks — a lifetime goal of his. After completing a 50-day Outward Bound course, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life: travel and guide.
Matt has been a outdoor professional since 2014, but his love for guiding goes beyond the thrill of backpacking — he loves making people laugh, has a way of making everyone feel comfortable and is deeply passionate about wildlife, the outdoors, photography, and creating a healthy planet.

Raised in Ohio, Emily discovered her love for the outdoors and traveling while completing a term of service with AmeriCorps along the west coast. After that, she took a chance with a job as a bicycle guide at the Grand Canyon, and has been on the move ever since.
Emily has worked her way through New Zealand, backpacked in Patagonia, and road tripped coast to coast here at home. Eventually, Emily landed in Bozeman Montana, where she fell in love with the wide-open spaces, wildflowers and community of Yellowstone and the surrounding area.
Matt M. was raised in Upstate New York with a passion for travel and exploring the world’s wild places. After earning a Bachelors in Recreation and Tourism Management, he hit the road for eight years and found himself living in far flung locales, working as a teacher to support his love of being on the road.
Whether it was being chased by monkeys down a beach in Malaysia or spending a night atop the Great Wall of China, Matt was always looking for the next adventure. Eventually he chose to settle down in Bozeman, Montana where the access to nature and wild exploration was seemingly unparalleled in the lower 48. Since 2016, he has been leading outdoor guided tours throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Jackie Logistics
Jackie has been an avid backpacker since 2013. Her studies and passion for geology add a unique perspective to the landscapes she visits. Jackie resides in the Pacific Northwest, but loves to escape the rainy season to backpack in the southwestern desert. Jackie's favorite part of backpacking is alpenglow!
When it comes to the outdoors and geology, you will never meet someone as passionate as Jackie. If you are lucky enough to talk to Jackie on the phone, make sure you ask her about her travels, she's been everywhere!

“Matt took my two friends and I on THE most wonderful tour in Mammoth, YNP.
